Gantry crane is a kind of boom crane with the bridge supported on the ground track or foundation by the legs on both sides. It is a full-turning boom crane mounted on the gantry base walking along the ground track. It is one of the general cranes at the front of the wharf.

It is an indispensable important equipment to realize the mechanization of production process.

Gantry crane consists of structure part, mechanism part, electrical part and safety device part. It can be divided into two types according to the different lifting mechanism and the mechanism that keeps the horizontal displacement of the container sling plane. The lifting mechanism of the former multi-purpose gantry crane can adopt a set of lifting driving mechanism, and the lifting mechanism of the latter multi-purpose gantry crane must adopt two sets of lifting driving mechanism, one set of drum used as an open and close grab, and the other set of drum used as a support grab.
